About Me

Welcome to Lumina Counselling Kent

I'm Louise, a qualified person-centred counsellor, holding a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am fully insured, work within regular clinical supervision, and am committed to ethical, reflective practice.

Alongside my counselling qualification, I am a qualified Reiki and Crystal Healer, with additional training in trauma-informed practice and nervous system support. I continue to develop my work through ongoing CPD, with a particular focus on holistic and body-based approaches to trauma healing.

I volunteered as a counsellor with The Rising Sun Domestic Abuse Service in Canterbury, an experience that profoundly shaped my holistic and trauma-informed way of working. It was a privilege to support women as they moved from survival towards empowerment, reclaiming their identity, voice, and sense of self.

Previously, I worked closely with families to help prevent family breakdown and reduce the risk of children entering the care system, and I have also worked with Rethink Mental Illness supporting individuals in their mental health recovery.

My professional work is further informed by my own lived experience of bereavement, trauma, anxiety, and depression, which has deepened my compassion, understanding, and strengthened my belief in the human capacity for healing and growth when the right therapeutic conditions are present.
